12-12-12 and re-setting the clock

12/12/2012

Today is one of those days that numerologists and omen-seekers find significant: the last time all the numbers will line up for a century! We’ve had other chances, from 01/01/01 through 11/11/11 — did you make plans to do something significant on one of those days? Did you have special plans for today? As I write this, 12:12 pm on the clock has already passed; did I miss something?

It seems to me, the date 12/12/12 is just an arbitrary human construct. If you choose to make it significant, it will be  — but how you make it significant is up to you. And it’s possible that no one else will feel the same way you do about it.

Of course, if you choose to ignore this date, you will succeed as well.

But what if I’m wrong: what if there is (or was) a celestial harmonic convergence on this date, and I missed it?

A quick Google search of 12/12/12 brought up this:

According to Chinese numerology, the number one is a yang number which is ruled by the sun and represents independence and individualism. Two is a yin number which is ruled by the moon and represents symmetry and balance.

When placed together, the number 12 brings harmony to the yin and yang, balancing the feminine energy of the moon with the masculine energy of the sun. So, what we can gather is, 12/12/12 equals lots of harmony.

I think that’s terrific, but why stop there? Why wait another hundred years to experience that kind of harmony?

Try this:

1. Set your intention to reflect on harmony -- a feeling of balance and being at peace -- whenever the clock strikes 12.
2. Take a deep breath and relax once or twice every day (depending on your sleep schedule).

Recovering from a power outage can turn into an exercise in bliss: all those digital clocks flashing 12:00, over and over!

The key here is setting your intention. If you intend to take that moment and de-stress, you will. And you’ll find, over time, that feeling of being at peace and in balance will stretch out, from just a moment to as long as you allow it to last. You’re creating a habit of harmony.

Isn’t this a good day to start?
